VILA NOVA
 (VENTOSA - VOUZELA)
N 40.70816; W 8.09342

The Roman Bridge is in one of the accesses to the town of Vila Nova. Symbol of Roman culture that crosses the River Zela.
Next to the bridge is the recreational space of the Water Mirror, where you can enjoy a cool environment with which the river and the surrounding hardwoods offer us, while allowing yourself to be surrounded by moments of pure delight and charm in a beautiful landscape.
In Vila Nova, a Chapel was built in honor of Santa Bárbara, invoked as a protector in the event of storms, lightning, and thunder. It is a stone chapel, with a single nave and a bell.
Santa Bárbara is the patron saint of Vila Nova because in the past there was great exploitation of tungsten mines, where many miners worked who risked their lives daily. Also, due to the concentration of this ore, lightning strikes frequently reached these lands, and as such the inhabitants and workers of the mine asked for protection from Santa Bárbara. Nowadays mines are no longer active.
