The Termas de São Pedro do Sul located in Várzea, São Pedro do Sul (Portugal) are the most frequented spas in the country.
The thermal spring of S. Pedro do Sul has been explored since the 1st century. What remains today of a spa built by the Romans is a National Monument. King Afonso Henriques in the 12th Century, ordered the spa to be built (currently known as Balneário D. Afonso Henriques). In 1894, new thermal facilities were created at its side (Balneário Rainha D. Amélia).
It is said, that King Afonso Henriques 1169 attended the Termas de S. Pedro do Sul to recover from a fractured leg.
It has sulfuric water that sprouts at 68.7ºC.
